A 68-year-old female presents to the emergency department brought by her husband due to altered mental status and fever. The husband reports she has been complaining of dysuria and right-sided flank pain for the past two days. This morning, she became difficult to rouse and confused. Her past medical history includes type 2 diabetes mellitus and recurrent urinary tract infections. She has no known drug allergies. Medications include metformin and lisinopril.
