A 6-month-old female infant comes to the office for a routine health maintenance examination. The mother tells you that her daughter has an “extra crease” on her left thigh. She first noted this two weeks ago. The infant is the product of a first pregnancy and was born at full term by Cesarean section, due to a breech presentation. Her neonatal course was uncomplicated, and her past medical history is only significant for one sick visit for an upper respiratory infection, plus her routine health maintenance visits. Family history is negative for childhood orthopedic problems.
